Lorne Memorial Health Foundation

Lorne Memorial Health Foundation Inc. was established in 1997 as a non-profit registered charity. It was created following recommendations made by hospital finacial advisors as a means of managing donations monies. Its purpose is to promote healthy living in the Lorne Memorial Hospital area, which includes Bruxelles, Mariapolis, St. Alphonse, Somerset and Swan Lake.

The following is a list showing how this support has been distributed in the past:

  • Funded medical equipment, health related programs and education.
  • Contributed over $178,000 for health-related expenditures.
  • Fully funds Lorne Memorial Palliative Care Program with a total of $45,000 granted to the program since 1997.
  • Lorne Memorial Hospital received approximately $70,000 for equipment and furniture.
  • Allocated funds of support to Lorne Ambulance, Lorne Community Handivan and Lorne Community Support Services for Seniors.
  • Embarked on a forgivable loan contract with a medical student as a pro-active way of assuring physician recruitement and retention.
  • Joined forces with the RHA-Central MB Inc. in sponsoring other professional bursaries.
  • Funds the quarterly Lorne Services newsletter.

 


Foundation Committee

The committee is very proud of the accomplishments of the foundation, especially given the fact that it relies on the generosity of the Lorne area's relatively small population base. The communities are to be applauded for their past and future support of health care in this area through donations to the Lorne Memorial Health Foundation Inc.

Wanted - Family Practioner

The Somerset Clinic is currently recruiting for a Family Practitioner at the Place Somerset Place located in Somerset, Manitoba.

The Place Somerset Place demonstrates a true collaborative partnership between community and RHA Central. Place Somerset Place is home to public health services as well as a Dental Office.
Currently, Itinerant service providers access the clinic to provide services to the community.

This position gives the candidate the opportunity to do shared ER on-call at the Lorne Memorial Hospital located in Swan Lake, Manitoba as well as maintaining clinic coverage in the community of Somerset.
